Metal and crystal can be mined on any planet. It is the base for many constructions and ressources.

Oil and Deuterium

Oil and deuterium can only be mined on asteroids. You need to colonize or invade in order to get an asteroid. You can get oil and deuterium on the market in exchange for other ressources. This is needed in the beginning cause you need oil and deuterium for some base techonologies.
