== Designing ==
A few general words to start with. Designing is probably the single most tactical thing to do in Planetech. Our wish is, that every player may walk his own path, by designing his individual units that fits his way of playing.
Attention should be paid to the unit size that is given in the designing menu. This variable indicates how many units of that type can be transported later. The different storage spaces (for resources, fighters and ground units) are also being displayed and of course indicates how many units can be carried at the maximum by the specific design.
It is furthermore important to know, that jumpengines MK1 can be built into the designs right from the beginning without any research on jumpengine technology. The explanation is given in the parts section and is mainly based on the point, that the MK1 engines are still from before the great war.
While comparing the different engines, cassis and weapons with each other one will see, that there are often some advantages and disadvantages between the different parts. Thus one need to decide about if he/she rather likes more power, less costs or less need less bays. Should an engine give more energy for weapons or enable one to travel as fast as possible?
Every player will probably need to try out many different possible designs before knowing which design ist really good or rather bad. Since every opponent will have different designs with different focuses the own fleet will need to be remodled constantly to react to the changes in political relationships.
